EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: Owen Wilson
This summer, Crabtree Physical Therapy had the privilege of hosting Owen Wilson, a first-year physical therapy student from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. Originally from Plano, Texas, Owen’s journey into the field of physical therapy began with a deeply personal experience. As a teenager recovering from cancer, he underwent physical therapy to address the lasting effects of treatment—an experience that not only aided his recovery but also inspired his career path.
“That experience showed me the impact this profession can have,” Owen shared. “It inspired me to pursue physical therapy as a way to give back for the care I received during that time.”
Over the past six weeks, Owen has been an integral part of the Crabtree Physical Therapy team, working closely with Clint Crabtree since the clinic’s opening. His internship has been anything but typical—in fact, it began before the clinic’s first patient ever walked through the door.
Owen initially applied for a clinical internship with Levi Hospital, following in the footsteps of other Regis University interns who had trained under Clint there. However, after the unexpected closure of Levi Hospital, Owen faced uncertainty about his placement. When Clint learned of the situation, he contacted Regis University to offer a solution: host Owen at his new private practice in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Despite the challenges of a clinic still under construction, Owen enthusiastically accepted. Instead of shadowing therapists on his first day like most classmates, Owen found himself helping move equipment, set up treatment spaces, and even lend a hand in marketing and technical support.
“Owen has had a unique first clinical rotation,” Clint noted. “He’s seen the behind-the-scenes side of opening a clinic—everything from setup to patient care. He’s been a team player since day one and willing to do anything asked.”
As the patient load grew, Owen transitioned seamlessly into hands-on care, gaining valuable clinical experience and confidence in his skills. His dedication, curiosity, and professionalism left a lasting impression on both the staff and patients.
“From day one, the entire clinic staff welcomed me with kindness,” Owen said. “The patients have been incredibly open to letting me be part of their care—which I deeply appreciate.”
As his internship concludes, Owen leaves Crabtree Physical Therapy with more than just technical experience—he leaves with a sense of gratitude and a deepened commitment to his chosen profession.
“This internship has given me nothing but a wonderful experience,” Owen reflected. “It’s allowed me to grow in my skills and confidence, and I’m so thankful for the hospitality of Hot Springs and the mentorship I’ve received.”
Crabtree Physical Therapy is proud to have played a part in Owen’s journey and looks forward to seeing where his passion and perseverance take him next.
